How to add a watermark to a PDF

  1. Choose or drop your PDF.
  2. Type the text or choose an image, such as your logo.
  3. Adjust the layout, color, size and opacity.
  4. Click Add watermark and download the file.

What is it for?

A watermark makes it clear that a document is a draft, a copy or confidential, and discourages people from reusing it without permission. It's also handy for branding quotes, plans or work material with your logo.

The watermark is drawn on each page on your device: the PDF isn't uploaded to any server. It works with any alphabet, because the text is drawn with your device's font.

Limits to keep in mind

Frequently asked questions

Is my file uploaded to a server?

No. Everything is processed in your browser, on your device. Your file isn't sent anywhere.

How do I put a watermark on a PDF?

Load your PDF, type the watermark text (or choose Image (logo)), pick the Layout and the Opacity, then click Add watermark and download it. The watermark is stamped on every page.

Can I use my logo instead of text?

Yes. Choose "Image (logo)" and upload a PNG or JPG. A PNG with a transparent background looks best.

Can I make it more or less transparent?

Yes. The opacity control goes from 5% (almost invisible) to 80%. To keep the page easy to read, something between 15% and 30% usually works well.

Can it be removed later?

The watermark is burned into the PDF you download. If you want to keep a clean version, save the original too.

Does it work with text in other languages?

Yes. The text is drawn with your device's font, so it supports accents, Cyrillic, Japanese and other alphabets.
