One mile is 1.609344 kilometers, one inch is 2.54 centimeters and one foot is 30.48 centimeters. One kilogram is 2.2046 pounds and one ounce is 28.35 grams. For temperature, Fahrenheit is Celsius × 9 ÷ 5 + 32: 20 °C is 68 °F and 100 °C is 212 °F.

In the kitchen, American recipes use cups and tablespoons instead of grams. A cup of flour weighs about 125 g and a cup of sugar about 200 g, but a cup of honey weighs almost 340 g, which is why you need to pick the ingredient. The tool uses the US cup of 236.59 ml; many countries use a 240 ml or 250 ml cup, so results are approximate.

For digital data, both systems are shown: decimal prefixes (KB, MB, GB, steps of 1000) used by drive makers and networks, and binary prefixes (KiB, MiB, GiB, steps of 1024) used by operating systems. That's why a 500 GB drive shows up as about 465 GiB.

Frequently asked questions

How do I convert units online?

Pick the category, then type the value and the starting unit. The equivalents in all the other units appear instantly.

How many grams are in a cup of flour?

About 125 g with the 236.59 ml US cup. Choose the Cooking category, the ingredient and the unit to see other equivalents.

What's the difference between KB and KiB?

KB is 1000 bytes (decimal system) and KiB is 1024 bytes (binary system). Operating systems often show the binary value even when they call it KB or GB.

Why aren't cups and grams a fixed conversion?

Because a cup measures volume and a gram measures weight: the same cup weighs different amounts with flour, sugar or honey.

Are my values saved or sent anywhere?

No. Everything is calculated in your browser.
