How to use the timer
- Type the hours, minutes and seconds, or tap a preset (1, 5, 10, 15, 30 or 60 minutes).
- Leave the sound option on if you want beeps when the time is up.
- Tap Start. You can pause and resume whenever you like, or reset to start over.
- The remaining time also shows in the tab title, so you can see it even from another page.
What an online timer is for
It helps you keep track of time for a recipe, a study session, a set of exercises, a presentation or a break. It also works for limiting time on your phone or a game.
The timer uses your device's clock, so it doesn't fall behind even if the tab is in the background. While it runs, it tries to keep the screen on if your browser allows it.
The last time you used is remembered on this device so you can start faster next time. Nothing is sent to any server.
Good to know
- For the alarm to sound, the tab must stay open in the browser and your device volume can't be muted.
- Some phones pause very inactive tabs to save battery: if you need a critical alarm, also use your phone's clock app.
- The maximum time is 99 hours, 59 minutes and 59 seconds.
Frequently asked questions
How do I set a 5-minute timer?
Tap the "5 min" preset and then Start. You can also type 5 in the minutes field.
Does it ring if I switch tabs or minimize the browser?
Yes, as long as the page stays open in the background. If your system suspends it, the alert may be delayed until you go back to it.
Can I pause the timer?
Yes. Tap Pause and then Resume: it continues from where it stopped.
Is it free? Do I need to install anything?
It's free, needs no sign-up and works right in your browser, on phone, tablet or computer.
Are my settings saved?
Only the last time and the sound option, in this same browser. Nothing is sent to any server.
