What it is for
Designers and developers often convert a color from one format to another: the HEX from a palette, the rgb() in a stylesheet, the HSL to build lighter or darker variants. This tool does it in one step.
It also calculates the color's contrast with white text and with black text, following the WCAG accessibility guidelines: 4.5:1 to meet level AA and 7:1 for level AAA with normal text.
CMYK is a simple conversion, useful as a reference; for professional printing you should use the color profile in your design software.
Things to keep in mind
- CMYK is calculated from RGB with the standard formula, without a color profile, so it may differ from what you see in print.
- Color names work in English (red, tomato, navy…).
- The native picker may look different depending on the browser and device.
