How to calculate a discount
- Choose “Discount or decrease” if it is not already selected.
- Type the original price and the discount percentage.
- See the final price, highlighted, and how much you save.
- Open “Show the calculation step by step” to see the formula.
The formula and examples
The final price is the price × (1 − discount ÷ 100). With 20% off 100, the price is 100 × 0.80 = 80 and you save 20. With 15% off 200, you pay 170.
To find the price before a discount, use “Value before a discount”: if you paid 80 after 20% off, the original price was 100.
Good to know
- The discount ranges from 0 to 100%.
- Two discounts in a row are not added together: they are applied one after the other.
- It does not include taxes; there is a separate calculator for VAT.
