How to convert hex to binary

Replace each hexadecimal digit with four bits: F is 1111, A is 1010, 3 is 0011. For example, FF = 1111 1111 and A3 = 1010 0011.

It is the most direct conversion between bases, because 16 is a power of 2. The table below shows the first numbers in all four bases.
