How to play
- Choose your opponent: the computer (pick a level and who goes first) or a friend.
- X starts and can play in any square of any small board.
- The position of your square inside its small board decides which small board your opponent must play in. If that board is already won or full, they can play anywhere.
- When you line up three in a small board, you win it. The game goes to the first player to win three small boards in a row.
About ultimate tic tac toe
In ultimate tic tac toe it isn't enough to think about the board you're playing in: every move also chooses where your opponent plays. A good move sends your opponent to a board where they can't do any harm, and a bad one hands them the chance to win a small board.
Winning a small board in the center is worth more than one in a corner, because it belongs to more lines. Try the three computer levels or challenge someone on the same device; everything is calculated in your browser.
Good to know
- If all the small boards are finished without a line of three, the player who won more small boards wins.
- Scores and settings are saved only in this browser.
- The small board where you have to play is highlighted.
