How to play the memory game
- Choose the board size (4×4 with 8 pairs or 6×6 with 18) and whether you play solo or with two players.
- Tap a card to flip it, then another. If both symbols are the same, it is a pair and they stay face up.
- If they are different, they flip back after a moment: remember where each symbol was. If you want to go faster, tap another card and they cover right away.
- In two-player mode you take turns: whoever finds a pair plays again, and whoever misses passes the turn to the other. Whoever collects more pairs wins. Solo, the goal is to finish in as few tries as possible.
Tips to improve your visual memory
The memory game trains working memory and attention. A good strategy is to flip the first cards in an orderly way, for example row by row, so you know which squares you already know and which you do not. Each time you discover a new symbol, take a good look at its shape and color and where it sits on the board.
The symbols differ by shape and also by color, so you do not need to tell colors apart to play. On the 6×6 board the cards are smaller: you can enlarge the page with your browser's zoom if that is more comfortable.
Everything happens in your browser and nothing is sent to any server. Only your best result for each size is saved on your device.
Things to keep in mind
- The record is the fewest tries in one-player mode and is saved per board size, only in this browser.
- In two-player mode no results are saved: you pass the device around and the turn is shown above the board.
- The boards are dealt at random in every game; there are no saved or daily games.
Frequently asked questions
How many pairs are there on each board?
The 4×4 board has 16 cards, that is 8 pairs. The 6×6 board has 36 cards, or 18 pairs.
What counts as one try?
Every time you flip two cards it is one try, whether they match or not. The best possible result is finishing in as many tries as there are pairs.
How do I play with two players?
Choose “2 players”. You take turns on the same device: if a player finds a pair they play again, and if they miss it is the other's turn. Whoever collects more pairs wins.
Can I play with the keyboard?
Yes. Use Tab to reach the board, the arrow keys to move between cards and Enter or the space bar to flip them.
Is it good for training memory?
It is a simple exercise in visual memory and attention, useful for kids and adults. It does not replace any medical evaluation, but it is an entertaining way to practice.
